Breakdowns we handle
Our technicians are equipped to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and control system failures on-site, with access to OEM parts from Demag, R&M and other leading brands. Call us if:
-
Your hoist won't lift or lower. We troubleshoot the hoist, its controls, contactors and limit switches.
-
There's a brake problem. We inspect, service, adjust and reset brakes to manufacturer tolerances.
-
You have an electrical fault. We track down wiring, control and pendant faults.
-
The wire rope or load chain is damaged. We check ropes, chains, hooks and safety devices for wear and damage, and replace worn parts.
-
Your radio remote has failed. We handle radio remote repairs, programming and spare transmitters, and stock Magnetek Flex and SAGA systems.
We work on all makes of cranes and hoists. See crane & hoist repair for the full list of repair services.

What to do while you wait
These are general safety steps. Always follow your own site's safety procedures.
-
Stop using the crane. Don't keep running a crane or hoist that isn't working properly.
-
Lock out and tag out. Isolate power to the crane and tag it so nobody starts it up.
-
Keep people clear. Keep everyone away from the load, the hook and the area under the crane.
-
Leave repairs to qualified people. Don't attempt repairs unless you're qualified to do them.
-
Write down what happened. Note any fault codes, warning lights, noises, and what the crane was doing when it stopped.
-
Have the details ready when you call. The crane's make, model and capacity, and where it's located on your site.

Common questions about emergency repairs
Is your emergency crane repair service really 24/7?
Yes. Our breakdown service is available 24/7: day, night, weekend or holiday. Call 306-374-5476.
Do you handle breakdowns on cranes and hoists that aren't Demag or R&M?
Yes. We're the authorized service provider for Demag and R&M, and we also repair cranes and hoists from all makes. We can source parts for many other brands, including obscure or discontinued ones.
What should we do before your technician gets there?
Stop using the crane, lock out and tag out the power, and keep people clear of the load and hook area. Don't attempt repairs unless you're qualified. Note any fault codes and what happened, and have the crane's make, model and location ready when you call.
Does the crane need a load test after an emergency repair?
Under CSA B167-26 7.3.1, load tests are generally not necessary following basic maintenance and repairs. After repair or replacement of critical components, the load test may be limited to the functions affected, as determined by an engineer or other competent person. We carry out load testing with WaterWeights® test bags.
What customers say
Matt
“Very knowledgeable, good communication, great experience. For every challenge and emergency, Venter has delivered results. The process is straightforward, and Venter provides great feedback to help determine immediate repairs required vs long-term repairs that might affect availability of the crane. First company that I’ve worked with that really knows the cranes inside and out. After inspection we know the true condition of our cranes and what work needs to be completed for reliable operation.
— Matt, Project Manager, Potash Operations

The process is very smooth: Venter says what they’re going to do, when they’ll arrive, and they do what they say. Since choosing Venter as our preferred supplier, we have less downtime. They are dependable and always respond as quickly as possible to our concerns.”
