Electrical & control repairs

When a crane won't run, or runs wrong, our technicians track down the fault on-site. We troubleshoot electrical and control system failures, test contactor resistances and limit switches against manufacturer standards, and inspect and tighten wiring connections. On chain hoists and wire rope hoists we repair pendants, controls and limit switches, and we supply electrification parts and controllers. For radio remote controls, we stock Magnetek Flex and SAGA systems and handle spare transmitters, repairs and programming from our Langham, SK shop. See Remote Controls.

Mechanical repairs: brakes, gearboxes, wire rope & chain

Worn brakes, ropes and chains are where lifting safety is won or lost. We open, inspect and service brakes, check brake pad thickness, and adjust and reset brakes to manufacturer tolerances. We check hooks, wire ropes, load chains and safety devices for wear and damage, and replace worn parts. For chain hoist repair we work on brakes, slip clutches, load chains and limit switches. For wire rope hoist repair we cover ropes, hooks and brakes, and we source gearboxes, load chains and wear parts through our crane parts supply. We also check welds, bolts and fittings, and we tighten and adjust as we go.

We're the authorized service provider for Demag and R&M in Saskatchewan, with factory-trained technicians. But our crane repair in Saskatoon and across the province isn't limited to those two brands. We repair cranes, monorails and hoists from all makes, whether they're single girder, double girder or underslung. Inspections & Maintenance

24/7 breakdown service

SafeLift Crane Aid offers 24/7 emergency breakdown support, day, night, weekend or holiday. Our technicians are equipped to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and control system failures on-site, with access to OEM parts from Demag, R&M and other leading brands. Crane modernization & upgrades

Sometimes the best repair is an upgrade.

We carry out electrical, mechanical and control upgrades to bring older equipment up to current standards. That can mean a new Demag or R&M hoist on your existing crane, new electrification and controls, or a radio remote control. For customers building their own bridges, we supply complete R&M and Demag crane kits with end trucks, hoists, electrification and controls. After repairs or modifications, we can carry out load testing to CSA B167-26 with our WaterWeights® test bags and supply a certificate of load test.

What customers say

Matt

“Very knowledgeable, good communication, great experience. For every challenge and emergency, Venter has delivered results. The process is straightforward, and Venter provides great feedback to help determine immediate repairs required vs long-term repairs that might affect availability of the crane. First company that I’ve worked with that really knows the cranes inside and out. After inspection we know the true condition of our cranes and what work needs to be completed for reliable operation.

— Matt, Project Manager, Potash Operations

When repair work is needed, it is completed correctly and in a timely manner. Very few if any call backs are required once work is completed.”

Excellent communication, great follow ups, extensive technical knowledge, and skills from your techs and just amazing how your guys explain the issues, potential solutions. Couldn’t have asked for a better partner for our needs. Smooth process. All it takes is one text, call, or email to Calum or Brad and I can be assured that I will be taken care of without having to call a second time. I don’t have to worry about anything, you guys send out a reminder about our yearly inspections and once you guys have fixed an issue; I never had to worry about it reoccurring a second time.
